日本は外来種の天国です。
外国から移入されてきた外来種の多くは日本の春夏秋冬の気候に適用して国内種を駆逐して勢力を拡大させています。
川や池、沼、排水路、用水路などに魚やエビを捕りに行きますと例外なく外来種が捕れます。
我が家の近所の排水路にも外来種はいます。

どこを探してもなかなか在来種は見つかりません。
モロコ、ヌマエビがたまに捕れるぐらいです。
それでも、休日になると親子が水辺に棲む生き物を捕りにきています。
楽しそうに捕っている姿は、ほほえましいですが、在来種だったらなと思います。
子供たちはカダヤシとメダカと間違えて無邪気に捕っております。
田舎に遊びに行き、田んぼに生き物を捕りに行くと、ジャンボタニシが沢山いますし、川や池で釣りをすると、ブルーギルやブラックバスが釣れるのです。
また、池や沼、排水路、用水路ホテイアオイが浮かんでおり爆発的に増えています。
水中にはオオカナダモが育っており、水底を覆っています。
ホテイアオイが水面を覆うことにより、水中の植物・水草達は日光を浴びることができず枯れてしまいます。水中の水草を枯らしてしまうと逆に水質を悪化させてしまいます。
水中の植物・水草達が死ぬと光合成が行われずに水中の酸素が不足して魚などの生き物が酸欠になりやすくなり死に絶えてしまいます。こうして死の池になります。
腐って腐敗したホテイアオイや水中の植物・水草のニオイが酷いことになります。
話を戻して、我が家の近所の排水路はほとんど外来種しかいません。
恐らく、在来種はほぼ駆逐されており、外来種の中で食物連鎖を構築していると思います。
こうなると、ほぼ末期的な症状です。このような場所が日本の各地至る所にあります。
私が子供だった１９８０年代にもすでにザリガニやウシガエルは近所の川や池、沼におりました。子供時分はザリガニのいない川や池などがあるが、逆にガッカリしたものです。
それが、外来種で日本の生態系に影響を与えていると知ったのは、大人になってからなのです。
島国である日本が、何故外来種天国になってしまったのでしょうか。
私の子供だった頃にはメダカはよく捕れておりましたが、子供には見せてあげられません。
